Re-opening a role.
When the hire falls through or the headcount opens back up. How to re-open without confusing the candidate pool.
Last reviewed 11 August 20262 min read

Re-open a closed role from the role page menu, Re-open. The role goes live again under the same slug, the same rubric, and the same brief. Anything you change at re-open time is logged in the role history.

What re-opens with the role.

  • The role page on your own careers page and on the public job board.
  • The syndication to all channels except those that flagged the original close (LinkedIn is one; the role gets a new posting ID).
  • The rubric and the seniority. Edit before re-open if either has changed.

What does not re-open automatically.

The prior candidate pool stays archived. Already-vetted candidates from the prior run are visible in the role history but do not re-enter the active pool. If you want a prior candidate to be reconsidered, you re-invite them from the candidate card, which sends a one-line note: "We are re-opening this role and we would like to talk again". That invite is logged and counts as a new vetting cycle for billing.

If the role closed under a year ago, the candidate-facing page shows "re-opened" in the eyebrow. After a year, it presents as a fresh role.

What to do next: re-open the role, edit the brief if the scope has changed, and invite the one or two prior candidates worth revisiting.
