Closing a role.
When you make the hire, how to close cleanly, what happens to the candidate pool, and what the in-flight candidates see.
Last reviewed 4 August 20263 min read

Close a role from the role page, top-right menu, Close. We will ask you for the close reason (hired, paused, cancelled) and whether you want to send a final note to the in-flight candidates.

What happens to in-flight candidates.

  • Candidates who have not started the AI screen are notified the role is closed. They are invited to opt into Picked Verified (V3) when it ships.
  • Candidates mid-screen are paused. The screen ends gracefully; nobody is mid-question when the role closes.
  • Candidates who completed the screen but were not advanced get a structured "not advanced" note with the competency breakdown and the right to a human-review path.
  • Candidates who completed all four checks but were not picked as a finalist get a "stronger fit elsewhere" note. We do not auto-route them to other roles in your workspace; that is opt-in per candidate.

Billing on close.

You are billed for the vetted candidates who completed all four checks. Incomplete candidates are free. The first 50 are free across the lifetime of the account, not per role; if you have used your free tier on a prior role, this role is billed from the first vetted candidate.

Closing is reversible: see "Re-opening a role".

What to do next: close the role, write a one-line internal close reason, and let the candidate-side messages send.
